Friends, Here are
two messages I received from Bernd Schmidt today. If any of you are
interested---without making a solid commitment, of course, let me know in the
next couple days.

Dear Mr. Priest,
your message came in the right time. I like to say thank you for all the
people who were helpful at the great event of 80th ID. In this letters I like
to include a copy of your e-mail for information. So, looking forward. I
believe to see you and your buddies in the next year. About further details
and answers I like to informe you soon.
Dear Mr. Priest
I understand very well that you had a different work than the fighting units.
Without this units the liberation would never be possible.
But your work was very harder concerning including in the horror of
Buchenwald a long time. So, I would like to have very much a plaque which
remember for this work and for Buchenwald. If any of the American units will
receive a honor near the area of Buchenwald than it should to be yours.
I will write soon.
Best regards
Bernd Schmidt
Dear Mr. Priest,
you have a knowledge how many veterans of your unit would like to come to
Ettersburg, Weimar and Buchenwald. Sure that you can not know it right now.
It is only to have a feeling. A group would be wonderfull.
Best regards
Bernd Schmidt
